So back in January when I was...oh 8 months pregnant I had a baby shower and a friend of mine gave me a recipe for making your own babywipes.
I don't know if it was the hormones, lack of sleep, nesting and preparing for having a baby girl in the coming month, but thought that making wipes was a bit overwhelming at the moment....So needless to say the supplies got put away in the closet for a bit.
My friend (thanks Cindy) helped me make them for the first time a couple months ago.
I figured out based on my purchase of Bounty paper towels at Costco plus the cost of the other ingredients 1000 wipes end up costing a whopping $8.00 !!!!! =) And if you buy the Costco wipes (which personally we don't care for anyway) you will pay $19.99 for 900 of them! Stellar deal these are making your own I would say! =)
All the ingredients you need: roll of paper towels, knife, Tablespoon, liquid cup measure, hot water, baby oil and baby soap..oh and a ziploc bag!
*Note: There are two types of paper towels pictured above. I REALLY like the Bounty wipes I made...because what can I say!? Bounty really is the better picker-upper =) I did use generic Fred Meyer paper towels because I wanted to try the snack size for a smaller wipe, but they ended up breaking more than the great Bounty wipes I made.
1st-cut your paper towel roll in half. (Learned the hard way DO NOT use a serrated knife)
Voila! cut in half!
3rd-You will need your baby soap (any kind will do) and baby oil as well as your measuring spoon.
4th- Mix: 1 and1/2 cups hot water with about 2 Tbsp baby oil and 1 Tbsp baby soap.
6th-Pour water, oil and soap solution evenly around the towels in the bag.
*I store the extra paper towel roll with the supplies in the bathroom under the sink so that it's all together in one spot and easy to do next time I need a batch!
We have really enjoyed the wipes...although I have yet to figure out how to use them in my wipe warmer in the nursery, we are enjoying them during and after meal times and all other times during the day! I have two wipe tubs that I have stored these wipes in and I use them on my baby, the baby girl I watch and it cleans them up well!
Enjoy the recipe and maybe some of you will try these!
Wipe away! =)
